Mentura Group has been awarded the contract to provide a SIM over-the-air (OTA) platform for Virve 2 in Finland.
According to a statement, the company is delivering the project in cooperation with its telecommunication technology partner, Opencode Systems. The contract was awarded by Virve 2 operator Erillisverkot earlier this month.
The SIM OTA platform is designed enable the remote management/updating of Virve 2 SIM cards, thereby ensuring user access to the “latest network features and security enhancements.”
Discussing the contract, Mentura CEO, Sami Honkaniemi, said:"We are thrilled to partner with Erillisverkot Group to deliver this critical component of their next-generation public safety network.
"Authorities around the world are in the process of migrating their communications services to mission critical broadband technologies. Our SIM OTA solution will provide Erillisverkot Group with the flexibility and control they need to ensure the highest level of service and security for their subscribers."
Virve is a narrowband based public safety network, used by emergency services and public authorities across Finland. Virve 2 is currently under development, with anticipated roll-out in the coming years.
