Motorola wins NSW contract

New South Wales Telco Authority has awarded Motorola Solutions a five-year contract extension to support and enhance its public safety network.

The network spans 324,000 square kilometres and is one of the largest of its type in the world. According to a statement, the P25-based network provides “instant, team-based communication” for more than 50,000 radio users across emergency services, government agencies and local councils.

Motorola’s work will include network lifecycle upgrades, as well as cybersecurity. Software upgrades will “provide further advancements to the network’s location, vehicle and personnel protection capabilities.” They will also provide NSW with the “flexibility to implement next-generation technologies over time.”

Speaking of the network, Motorola Solutions managing director for Australia and New Zealand, Con Balaskas, said: “[Its] public safety network provides New South Wales’ agencies with exceptional performance in the harshest environments. It enables coordinated responses to critical incidents and supports their mission to protect people and places.”
