Why is Critical Communications World an important event for Ericsson?

Critical Communications World is a pivotal event for Ericsson. It offers a global platform to showcase our reliable and resilient network solutions for mission-critical communications. Our participation highlights our commitment to this area.

As the event attracts industry leaders, policymakers, and key stakeholders globally, it provides an invaluable opportunity for Ericsson to engage with partners, customers, and experts. CCW allows us to demonstrate our expertise in public safety, defense, rail, utilities and digital airspace domains.

By participating, Ericsson strengthens its position as a thought leader and technology provider in mission critical communications while gaining insights into emerging trends and customer requirements.

What do you hope to achieve at the show? What is your strategy to accomplish this?

At CCW, Ericsson aims to reinforce our position as a leader in mission-critical communications by showcasing our latest technologies and solutions. Our strategy revolves around demonstrating the efficacy, reliability, and innovation of our products and services. This is in order to:

- Unveil next-generation mission-critical networks that provide secure, resilient, and high-performance connectivity for professional users, boosting operational efficiency and effectiveness in critical situations.

- Highlight 5G-enabled incident handling through network APIs, precise positioning and more, all designed to enhance situational awareness and decision-making.

- Present cybersecurity solutions tailored specifically for safeguarding mission-critical networks by detecting and neutralising external threats, ensuring robust protection and uninterrupted service.

To accomplish these goals, we will conduct demos and customer meetings to showcase the benefits of our technologies. Our experts will also actively participate in the conference program, delivering presentations and joining panel discussions on topics such as quality of service, priority and pre-emption implementation, cybersecurity, data integrity, digital airspace, and future technologies like integrated sensing.

What products and solutions will you be highlighting at the event? What will likely be the key focus?

At the center of Ericsson’s presence, there are five standout demos that bring our mission critical networks vision to life. These are:

- 5G-enabled collaboration. A futuristic look at incident handling, showcasing how 5G empowers rapid, secure cross-agency incident response powered by AI and untethered access to control/command rooms.

- Journeys to next-generation MCN. A roadmap for modernising legacy networks across sectors like public safety, defense, rail, utilities, and digital airspace.

- Digital airspace network APIs. Featuring XR simulations of autonomous drones in emergency scenarios, highlighting the role of real-time data and network APIs.

- NTN for mission critical communications. Exploring how satellite networks developed with 3GPP standards can complement ground-based networks for mission-critical users.

- Safeguarding mission-critical networks. A cybersecurity demo that reveals how Ericsson’s platform detects and neutralises external threats.

Adding to the demos is a hardware display showcasing Ericsson’s latest radio access network (RAN) and core network solutions. These products strengthen Ericsson’s end-to-end capabilities.

A highlight of the display will be a new antenna designed specifically for use in public protection and disaster relief spectrum. This lightweight antenna from Ericsson Antenna System is optimised for the 700MHz band.

What are the key challenges and opportunities for mission-critical communications? How is Ericsson meeting those for the benefit of users?

The mission critical-communications face an urgent need to modernise aging infrastructure which lacks the capacity and interoperability across domains for modern data-driven operations. There’s a significant operational demand for secure, reliable and high-performing connectivity, improving cross-agency collaboration, situational awareness and fast response time.

Ericsson is addressing these challenges head-on. Through its work with 3GPP standards and partnerships with organisations like TCCA and GSMA, we are helping shape a future where mission-critical networks are not only interoperable but also intelligent and adaptive.

Our emphasis on secure, scalable, and interoperable communication networks ensures that users can rely on Ericsson technologies even in the most demanding scenarios. By investing in research and development, Ericsson continues to advance its existing product portfolio, delivering solutions that further enhance secure, intelligent and predicable connectivity for professional users worldwide.
