PowerTrunk's New York connection

PowerTrunk, which is part of the Sepura Group, has been chosen to provide the TETRA network for Chemung county New York's transit system, the C TRAN.

PowerTrunk, part of the Sepura Group, has been chosen to provide the TETRA network for Chemung County New York’s transit system, the C TRAN.

The system is intended to replace C TRAN’s legacy analog radio system, providing voice and data communication. A second phase will include a control room upgrade, alongside the addition of real-time GPS tracking of the company’s buses.

Carlos Fernandez, executive vice president for PowerTrunk said: “We are pleased to bring TETRA technology to Chemung County. C TRAN will now join New Jersey Transit in the US as an early adopter of TETRA, a world-class digital radio technology already utilized in more than 125 countries globally."

Chemung County executive Tom Santulli said: "The TETRA system will provide drivers with better and easier communication with the main office, which will improve safety and performance."

The system will be delivered through IT vendor Integrated Systems, who, likewise are based in New York state and include the PowerTrunk product line as part of its portfolio.
