DAMM and its local system partner, ALCON Engenharia, have replaced a two site Rohill TETRA system (with 2 x 6 carriers) at São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) in Brazil, with a fully redundant DAMM TetraFlex Indoor High Power 7 carrier system. The network serves airline customers such as LATAM and Qatar Airways and supports a 2,000 terminal strong subscriber base.

GRU is the largest airport in Brazil in terms of passenger traffic and completed an extra 34 aircraft stand terminal with an initial capacity to serve 12 million people per year in May 2014.

DAMM states that its TetraFlex system provides users with secure and reliable voice and data services, enabling airports to efficiently respond to any potential danger. The company also claims that thanks to TetraFlex’s features such as DGNA (Dynamic Group Number Assignment) it is easy to create dynamic work groups used for airport apron (the area of an airport where aircraft are parked) services such as luggage handling, jet fueling and catering, using the system.

ALCON Engenharia designed, installed and commissioned the new IP-based, decentralized network. “We have joined forces with DAMM to deliver the most secure, reliable and flexible solution,” said Gilberto Koza, ALCON Engenharia’s CEO. “In addition the open API offers easy integration of 3rd party applications, like the Siemens Dispatcher solution, was key to the GRU Airport in Brazil.”

“DAMM and ALCON have proven a successful team in Brazil for a variety of industries including airports, municipalities as well as mining,” commented Kjeld Pharao, CEO of DAMM. “Working with a true expert in the field, Alcon has the know-how to create cost-efficient, tailor-made solutions to match the customers changing needs for mission critical voice and data.”
