Nokia appoints former Cisco VP

Shaun McCarthy has joined Nokia as its president of North America sales.

According to a statement, McCarthy will be responsible for leading all aspects of sales across the US and Canada, “accelerating revenue growth, and helping customers to adopt transformative networking technologies that enable the next phase of digitisation.”

McCarthy has over 20 years of sales experience in the technology sector. He has joined Nokia from Cisco, where he was vice president of worldwide sales for its mass-scale infrastructure group. He has also occupied leadership roles at several Silicon Valley companies, including Palo Alto Networks, Brocade, and Vyatta.

Speaking of the appointment, Nokia chief customer experience officer, Ricky Corker, said: “Shaun has a proven track record of leading successful teams, building long-term relationships with customers, and helping customers in their digital transformation journeys. His extensive experience in modernising sales organisations will ensure that we are engaging customers in new and interesting ways.”

McCarthy said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to join Nokia. The company’s end-to-end networking portfolio is firing on all cylinders and opportunities to help customers modernise their operations and accelerate growth are plentiful. The time to close the digital divide is now.

"In North America, we need to create ubiquitous access to today’s digital world, and no company is better positioned than Nokia to enable innovative, high speed, reliable, and affordable broadband access across rural and urban communities.”
