Hexagon CAD solution chosen by Austrian command centre

Leitstelle Tirol, the state-wide command and control centre for fire, rescue and other emergency response services in the federal state of Tyrol, Austria, has chosen Hexagon’s computer-aided dispatch (CAD) solution to support call-takers and dispatchers and enhance public safety answering point (PSAP) processes.

Hexagon’s Safety & Infrastructure division will integrate the new CAD system with Convexis’ rescuetrack geospatial platform and Strabag Infrastructure & Safety Solutions’ voice communications system. This will deliver an end-to-end solution with spatial search, routing and unit recommendation and alarming functionality.

Those functionalities will help the control centre to quickly pinpoint the precise location of an event to reduce response times and make the best use of the state’s fire and rescue fleet.

Bernd Noggler, managing director for Leitstelle Tirol, said, “For more than a decade, Hexagon has supported the efforts of fire and rescue agencies across Austria. We are excited to work closely with them to improve every facet of our operation – from call-taking and emergency handling to reporting and incident analysis.”

Nick Chorley, director EMEA public safety and security for Hexagon’s Safety & Infrastructure division, added, “Leitstelle Tirol is internationally known for their innovative use of CAD. We are honoured to contribute to their legacy of providing quality emergency response for citizens and tourists.”

The state of Tyrol is home to 750,000 citizens and hosts more than 49 million overnight stays each year. Leitstelle Tirol receives more than 500,000 emergency calls and responds to over 350,000 incidents annually.
